“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” -Steve Prefontaine-
This is one of my favorite quotes of all time by Steve Prefontaine who was a world class runner back in the day. Steve is saying that to not try as hard as you can at whatever you are doing or even possibly everything then you are going to leave yourself short and obtain not as good results if you would have tried harder. Steve had a gift and he worked his butt of to get where he got and because of this hard work is known by millions of people and has also inspired millions of people. I know he has inspired me to work harder at something to be the best I can be at. I believe a lot of people in the world have “[sacrificed the gift]” which is a bad thing because then the world may have less problems and more solutions.
This a story about five men who became stranded in the ocean for two months because their boat ran out of gas. These guys had no food to eat so instead they would eat driftwood that they found and would find coconuts, drink the juice, eat the inside, and then eat the shell. This story made me realize that when people want to survive that they will do anything. If I was in their situation then I would of done the same thing to stay alive also. The best thing is that they did not give up and they kept on doing what they could to survive.
It seems like everyone was talking about how the world is growing lazier, so I thought this picture would go along with it. This is a picture of a man walking his dog, but from his car, not by actually walking with the dog. This to me, is pretty pathetic that he couldn’t just walk with the dog and maybe become a little healthier himself. Unfortunately the world is becoming more and more like this because of how technology is being made to do almost everything for us. Now I am not saying that technology is bad because it certainly is not. It just contributes to our lack of motivation to do anything.
